Queen Elizabeth

Otherwise known as Good Queen Bess or the Virgin Queen she was crowned in 1508 and ruled England for 44 years. Historians often refer to this as England's Golden Age, a time of relative peace and great prosperity within Britain which saw great advances in art, literature and seafaring. She lived to be 69 years old- poisoned, some believe, by her own lead based make-up!
