Protective
This is a work from the end of 2022 that deals with trees and their specific characteristics of each species and how they can benefit us as humans in our emotions and our character.
The bark of the trees protects them from external agents, in this image you can see the thick "skin" of an elderly pear tree and that whenever I pass near it I look pleasantly at its situation. It is a tree that, as I said in the case of the apple tree, was planted at the birth of a daughter and in this way the latter was protected, in Basque popular culture.
This project arose as a result of getting to know the world of trees a little better, thanks to reading a few books about trees, and the key was "the springboard" when I tried all those benefits of our beloved trees in "the baths of forest".
After choosing some species of trees that are most abundant where I live and summarizing their main characteristic in one word, this is written in English, Basque and Spanish, I proceeded to take photos of them. Once the RAW file had been developed, he proceeded to make a negative and, using cyanotypes, proceeded to positive the image. The result was blue images with a beautiful analog touch. Finally, in the digitalization process, I changed the typical cyan color of the traditional cyanotype for other colors, green, violet, I also included in the image the tree that it is and the property it transmits. Being a long process but at the same time very rewarding.
