The test of a person's strength is not the magnitude of an act or action, but their willingness to pay the price, however terrible and fatal it may be.
The value of existence is to be able to create one's own choices, and to remain free even in the face of death - this is the phenomenon of moral freedom.
We give up our freedom often and voluntarily, we sacrifice it because freedom means choice, and choice means responsibility, and responsibility implies anxiety about our own existence. This is why, no matter how 'divine' we were, it is easier for us to give up our own freedom, in favour of an existence without anxiety.
