Phorusrhacos was a large flightless terror bird dwelling in modern Argentina, one of the dominant predators in the region at the time. Its head and hooked beak are very large, but proportionally so. It is generally thought to have been as tall and heavy as an ostrich, though some claim it's 'only' emu-sized - still quite enormous by modern bird standards!
