PHOENIX GENESIS // Resurrection

First image of a three part collection of illustrations based on the life cycle of the phoenix; from ashes to life and to death.

The phoenix embodies renewal, hope and immortality. It begins its life cycle by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. It then lives for 500 years before setting itself on fire to be born again.

This illustration is my interpretation of the phoenix rising from the ashes; it has not yet attained its beautiful plumage, and is gray in color.
