I took these photographs of Pete, his family and their home many moons ago. I had lived in the same village as him and he used to fix my Mum’s car. He was also the first person to pay me for a days work even though it meant catching chickens and chopping wood all day for a £1! He would take some of the rare breads he looked after in his small holding to all sorts of shows and won many prizes. He was also a collector of cigarette cards and owned hundreds of them, some worth a decent amount of money. In the photos he is pointing to one that was worth £250. The cancer that took half of one of his fingers as seen in some of the photos sadly came back. Some years after these were taken Pete passed away. This is my small tribute to him.
