*** This is the Animated Version ***
This piece plays on the heralding of Spring's return, but not merely the season of Spring but of the human spirit. In a world vastly changing in rules and ways, the mind is eternal and free.
Shall Persephone release the chains that can bind the mind and open our thoughts and hearts?
My animated pieces start as simple sketches made in the real world. The wallpaper pattern was sketched on our beach in the quiet of a still morning; inspiration from the shells and sea fauna scattered about. I build up from there with sketches on paper then digitally. Oil and oil crayon build up the characters and the magic of the vast world of editing gives them all life.
I think single pieces, such as this, set with sound and movement, are an amazing opportunity for we artists to express a moment of the labour and time we put into pieces. The vastness of eternity can live in a brush stroke but a second of earthly time gone in the flap of a butterfly's wing.
Like Persephone, Hope and Love shall always return.
