The steps led me past the closed market and down to the bay. They were made wide enough to allow the movement of hundreds, but occupied by only me. It is a non-space, between sites of importance, all grey concrete. What little color is to be found comes from signs and safety armatures. Yet there are echoes all around of people who have walked, stood, tripped, laughed, and cried on these stairs. I pass through their memories hanging in the air and consider the the weight of our collective presences. Derived from a 3D scan of stairs near the Seattle Fish Market in 2021. 3840x2160 png
