if you have time, just try enjoy the piece first. it's alive :.
Move. Stay. Leave it alone.
interactive conceptual piece meant to be watched full screen. a whole cycle is 4 minutes. i made it for leaving on my external monitor to relax my eyes while listening to music, designed to help induce the mind to wander, like a massage for your mindspace haha
— no need to read past here. only if u want the map —
LINEAGE ::
this traces back to Craig Reynolds' boids (1986). he built it trying to capture the thing i used to sit and watch for hours in busy streets and train station crowds: no conductor, no central plan, just thousands of agents each following their own small rules :: keep distance, match your neighbors, drift toward the group — and out of it comes this coherent flow that looks choreographed.
traffic on EDSA is a flocking system. rush hour at the MRT is a flocking system. crowds crossing at Cubao are a flocking system. watching emergence with the naked eye. being in it and apart from it at the same time.
THE PIECE ::
three species of paper, cranes, planes, torn scraps, share one flock. untouched, they follow an invisible current. every so often something unseen spooks them: a ripple, a scatter, a regroup. nobody dies, nobody wins, life continues.
the sky crossfades through four dusks too slowly to catch in the act, deliberate choices so the sky always heals. no scars, no memory. the only memory of the panic lives in you. the glitched CRT scanlines are an accident i kept.
TECH ::
p5.js, one self-contained html file, no build step, hosted on neocities. phone / tablet / desktop friendly.
OoakosiMo :: Field Notes From the Balcony :: 404 Micro Fest first installed on the smart TV beside the Modeka toilet door, the wall with the longest queue in the house.
