The bridge and the river [Panoramic #1]
The Governador José Sarney Bridge, popularly known as the São Francisco Bridge, is located in the city of São Luís, in the state of Maranhão.
Inaugurated on February 14, 1970, it spans 820 meters over the Anil River.
It has three lanes, with directions changing according to traffic, and serves as a link between the Historic Center and the São Francisco and Renascença neighborhoods.
Since its inauguration, urban expansion has been able to advance to the north of the island, occupying the edge of the capital, with the construction of high- and middle-income neighborhoods, since before transportation between the São Francisco neighborhood and the Center was carried out by canoes.
From where I'm standing, we can see the south side of the island, where the historic city center of São Luís is located.
