Shattered glass and deteriorating window frames depict futile attempts to integrate unworldly dreams into reality. Glass is completely missing at the lower levels, while still partially holding above. Eyes are closed permanently (as indicated by water stains), as if looking inside oneself, ignoring everything external.

It is a portrait of a mental state of a person suffering from maladaptive daydreaming, an obscure mental disorder which was only recently described and is not yet officially recognized.
