The Orion Nebula or M42, a massive diffuse nebula, is 24 light years across and is the closest stellar nursery to our Solar System. Clouds of ionized gas glow in pink and purple hues among dark stardust lanes in this region in which stars are formed.
At 1344 light years away, this deep dive into the Orion nebula was shot through my rooftop telescope and is result of stacking over 90 individual raw frames for a total exposure time of over 2 hours.
