Ophelia

Digital illustration based on the character of Ophelia from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

This piece depicts a scene of serenity in Ophelia’s last moments as she lets go of her earthly possessions and sinks into the shallow water. The rising water represents the overwhelming sadness she is filled with following the death of her father and Hamlet’s rejection. In this moment she choses to give up, accepting her fate so that she may finally be at peace.
