A full-page artwork that I created in 2003 for Musa Book. Artwork ready to be printed in 225mmx260mm at 300 dpi.
Reading the original artwork description nowadays, it was clearly autobiographical from a 20yo living in a small town in a country without a strong design narrative: "Utopian representation of social strata and breakthrough of the daily routine by an individual trying to leave a dent in the universe." Artist-wannabe-much?
The Musa book showcased nearly 80 Portuguese graphic designers. Some were already well-established, others unknown.
Twenty years later, some started their design agencies, some are freelancers, and others are creative directors at top-tier international agencies. Some, unfortunately, are no longer with us.
Common to all was the love for graphic design. Our love for creating something out of nothing guided us to the book.
We created all the artworks included in the book for free. No royalties included, either. All for the chance of exposure to a global market.
Being included in such a roster of designers was a proud moment for me.
Then, the tech world lured me in, and I just stepped away from a design career.
If only blockchains had already existed back then.
