Ogoni

My story has been erased and they don't want you to know it. They have privatized the land where I lived, looking for something called "black gold". For now I only live in the minds of those who tell my story, but I will return to the land that saw me born when times change.
This piece is inspired by the Ogoni people in Nigeria, one of the only tribes that resisted the British colony and that has suffered from a brutal oil extraction contaminating the land, rivers, seas and taking thousands of human lives.
