With this art-piece I aimed to explore my frustrations surrounding everyday work-culture, how society’s deems you lazy when you are really just tired, due to capitalist routines, people are forced to carry out duties that rarely fulfill our souls.
With the use of certain colours and brush strokes I aimed to convey my response to excessive corporate work culture, feeling tired, worn and slow. In addition to this, we often judge ourselves harshly by focusing on the parts we hate the most, allowing these fears to follow us. More so, in this case, it is the idea that if we chose not to work we are lazy beings; in this piece it is conveyed as a monster that sticks around, ever present, ever burdening against the pressures of real world demands.
“Not lazy” is a hand painted acrylic, watercolour and digital collage piece, painted onto canvas and scanned into a one of one media format.
