Noh theatre

Noh theater - Noh theater or Nogaku (能楽), the forgotten traditional art in Japan . An important element in Noh plays is the mask of the lead actor shite.

The mask tells us who the character depicted is. The types of masks commonly used represent demons, gods, as well as men and women of different ages. The mask is carved from Japanese cypress wood with three-dimensional properties that allow the talented actors to create different expressions according to the direction of head rotation. Most shites wear masks, unless it's the shoulder of an adult male or a boy. Nearly all the actors are male, performing for both male and female roles
