Before I knew the cost of time.
This one started as just me and a guitar at Yoeshi Labs.
It's about the version of you that existed before the world handed you a bill. Knees scraping pavement as you played outside. Laughing as the tears dry. Nothing to prove, nothing to survive. The memories still hold the foundation up, even on the days I don't feel like I earned the ground I'm standing on.
The acoustic take came first. You can watch it performed live here: https://x.com/YinYangYoeshi/status/2090930284967366968?s=20
From there I used that recording as the reference for a full band production in Suno, then pulled the stems back into Logic and cut the final vocal myself over the top. Human first, machine in the middle, human again at the end. The cover art took the same route, hand work and AI assist trading passes until it landed.

Lyrics: Thinking fondly of my youth Before I knew the cost of time Prior to the failed pursuits The brighter side still in sight
Sleeping easy standing tall Only playing when I'd climb Being picked up when I'd fall Before crying was a crime
No concept of evil No worries of fate No fear of people No reason to hate No goals to meet No struggle to eat No restless sleep
No PTSD
Vibrant imagination Joy with every ride Knees scraping pavement Then laughing as tears dry
The memories still serve me Foundation to where I stand Don't always feel deserving Of this privilege I command
No concept of evil No worries of fate No fear of people No reason to hate No goals to meet No struggle to eat No restless sleep
No PTSD
