Night Owl

Interlock:8x8 (2022) is a series of 8x8 pixel works based on my Interlock paintings (1993-97). The paintings were heavily influenced by 1980s computer games (Tetris, Star Wars) as well as borrowing from Geometric painting (Stella, Newman, Kelly, Reinhardt, Halley). The paintings were designed on computer, colors were matched with Pantone swatches as reference. The 8x8 images work within a tight grid and a restriced color palette to play with spacial recession and flat blocks. In the long gap between the paintings and these digital pieces, I worked in games development, created digital works in 2D & 3D, and continued to paint. @trisant333 http://www.trisant.xyz/interlock-1994-1997/
