My friend and I were very focused on seeing this line up one year, and the "right" conditions always eluded us. Frequently too cloudy, or the moon was too bright when it was clear. On our third attempt that year, Mt. Adams revealed itself and was illuminated by the crescent moon while the Milky Way rose behind it. Though not a part of the original plan, the moonlight and clouds softened all the colors and details in this image and this made it one of my favorites.
