NETWORK FREEZE

Photographs should evoke an emotional response in the viewer, be it wonder, empathy, fear or something else that the artist intends.

This simple scene was transformed in minutes by the onset of a blizzard, the first flakes resting on the network of branches allowing them to stand out from the background, revealing the complexity of nature. To me this scene is nothing but beautiful, I could stare at it for hours, my eye wandering from branch to branch, leaf to leaf, snowflake to snowflake. It brings a sense of calm to my congested world and leaves me feeling at peace.

As my last minted piece of 2021, a year that has brought many changes in my life, both stressful and exciting, I can't think of a better image to round out the year. A new year brings a resetting of the soul and I leave 2021 at peace, feeling calm, exploring this image and looking forward to what comes next.
