Nebula Project is a real-time, immersive digital artwork where light, gesture, and sound merge into a responsive audiovisual sculpture. A dynamic 3D particle systemโcapable of morphing into nebulae, hearts, spirals, and galaxiesโreacts directly to the userโs presence. Each formation is shaped through hand-tracking gestures powered by MediaPipe, voice commands, or subtle mouse movements, while reactive soundscapes generated with Tone.js accompany every transformation.
Built entirely within a single HTML file using Three.js, pure JavaScript, and native CSS, the piece is fully self-contained, lightweight, and optimized for low-latency local performance.
At the core of the experience is a continuous โtension factorโ driven by the userโs input: an open hand expands the particle field, a pinch rotates it, a spoken command alters its color or shape, and mouse movement fine-tunes its energy. Nebula Project becomes a living canvasโan interactive cosmos sculpted by the userโs gestures, voice, and intent.
Hand Gestures (MediaPipe Hands) Open Hand: Expands and inflates the particle formation. Closed Hand / Fist: Contracts the structure. Pinch (Thumb + Index): Enables rotation; move your pinch point to rotate along X/Y axes. Point + Clench: Selects UI buttons (templates, palettes) without using the mouse.
Voice Commands Say the name of a shape: โHeart,โ โSpiral,โ โGalaxyโ Say a color: โBlue,โ โRed,โ โPurpleโ Changes are applied instantly.
Mouse Interaction Move cursor: Slightly rotates and influences particle tension. Click UI buttons: Switch shapes, colors, or reset the scene.
Sliders / UI Controls Particle Count โ more or fewer points. Particle Size โ adjusts visual density. Morph Speed โ controls how fast the system transitions to a new form.
