The 'Fearful Symmetry' series explores the ways the totally abstract qualities of symmetry, pattern, and basic color and shape reiterated in scale and position through recursion—can evoke a sense of place, character, and emotion.
The work in this series evokes architecture, landscape, and the body—sometimes all at the same time.
This idea first manifested about eight years ago when I began working with code to create art. I tend to treat whatever particular program I'm writing almost as a musical instrument. I'm sure this series will continue to evolve in the next few years. Each piece is just a snapshot of where I am with the project at any given moment.
Enjoy!
