Modet 7 by Ilan Katin
It's a little sad to be drawing our Revolutionary Happiness collaboration to a close. But having such an amazing piece of Art to end on more than compensates.
It's such a great pleasure to be the one who shows you this amazing piece Modet 7 by Ilan Katin.
Now, you need to embiggen it and turn up the volume to fully appreciate its wonder!
I will not even pretend to understand how he made this piece, Ilam may have tried to tell me but I stop listening and I’m drawn back to the work again. I think it's something to do with alchemy and arcane ritual. Yet no animals were even harmed in the making of this piece, apparently.
I can only tell you what my first impressions were and still are weeks after first seeing Modet 7.
Whilst remaining true to the spirit of the whole project and keeping the source of the remix easily identifiable that is its point of departure.
One of the characteristics that I admire the most is that what the viewer seems to be witnessing is a conversation, via the language of movement, between the animated elements. AI?, AI Dance?
‘They’ seem be looking at the art beyond and we are witness to this and are influenced by their studies.
Is it the artist, or is it tech that is the prism?? All these mediations is so apposite.
Not only is the piece technically accomplished it is visually and auditorily gorgeous.
I've always loved the way solid glass refracts light and colour, so just having the perceived materiality of that to enjoy would be enough, but no! There's much more to think about.
It feels like a truly independent work of art that doesn’t need a viewer, it exists regardless, within itself, for itself. And then there’s the soundtrack. Is this a complete work of art?? I do believe it is.
Modet 7 by Ilan Katin is a most complete piece of digital art and it seems totally right to draw the Revolutionary Happiness Project to an end with this.
