Moctezuma II

Also known as Montezuma, he was the ruler of the Aztec empire when first contact was made with the Spanish Conquistadors. During his reign the empire reached it's greatest size, but he was thought to be unpopular with his people and it is believed he was stoned to death because he was unwilling to fight off the European invaders.
