Artists have destroyed their work in every decade, every country and every culture. The impetus for this destruction ranges from necessity, to creative expression, to mental anguish, or all of the above. The reason for destroying this piece is, as long as a physical item exists, the value remains with that very thing. However, if the physical piece is completely recreated and placed on a blockchain via smart contract code, no one could ever alter this (now digitized) artwork in any way. Only in this way will the physical piece last forever.
