Storing data on the blockchain can be very expensive. Ethereum developers quickly recognized the need for a way to store the media files associated with tokens off chain. Enter ERC-721 and token metadata. Metadata is information (data) that describes data, and it’s become the foundation for describing the traits and rarities that so many of our tokens contain. By tearing away the canvas to remove the faces and reveal the underlying descriptive data, Metadata I and II are playful observations that very often we look past the thing itself and focus instead on the information that can be used to describe the thing. This is the view that advertisers often take - we are distilled down to the information that can be used to describe us and better market to. It’s also the view that we consumers often take as we search for the items that are enriched with the rarest data. Each NFT comes with a physical print*.
*Must be holding the NFT on Nifty Gateway on November 19th, 2021 to receive the physical print. Artist will contact holders via e-mail (the e-mail associated with their Nifty Gateway account) to arrange for shipping.
