MEME TWENTYTWENTYFIVE by Pepenardo

MEME TWENTYTWENTYFIVE reimagines Uncle Sam, wearing a pepe-green Guy Fawkes mask as he points at the viewer, but his posture is more elusive - turned slightly, as if caught between authority and anonymity. The American flag draped over his shoulder adds to this tension, symbolizing both tradition and transformation.

Behind him, factories pump thick red smoke into the sky, referencing both Grant Yun’s industrial factory and one of 6529's token themes, 'Seize the Memes of Production'. The imagery reflects the ongoing shift in cultural power - where memes, once dismissed as jokes, now shape narratives and ideologies. MEME TWENTYTWENTYFIVE ultimately references back an earlier piece, FREETOMEME (2023), a work made by the artist as an early response to The Meme's collection.
