Mayur, also known as Moor in Hindi used to be a muse for many miniature artists in pre-independence India and was a very common subject to be included in paintings. Not only was it used to depict royalty and beauty but was and still is considered very auspicious in the Indian subcontinent. This painting by me depicts a peacock sitting on a tree overlooking the landscape at sunset during the season of spring.
