Part of the Altered Mags series, a project based on the alteration of magazine pages through painting, layering, and materic interventions. Each piece emerges from the interaction with what is already present on the page, from what those existing elements inspire and provoke as new creations and ideas within the artist. Certain parts are erased or concealed, while others become the starting points for new visual narratives.
the artwork explores the mask as a symbol of metamorphosis and multiplicity. Drips and dense textures rise from a dark background, evoking the tension between identity, concealment, and revelation. The original printed words, still visible through the eye openings of the mask, interacts with the new output โ fragments of the past coexisting with the transformed image. The mask itself was created in the spirit of a Rorschach stain, echoing the psychological dimensions it evokes and the reflections it triggers on perception, the self, and its many sides.
Completing the process, a digital intervention creates a bridge between the analog and the virtual: in post-production, my phrase โ๐บ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ธ ๐ถ๐ ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐บ๐๐น๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒโ was recreated using the same magazine font and subtly hidden among the lines as an easter egg โ a visual secret that completes the meaning of the work. The mask is not a disguise, but one of the many versions of the self.
