Mario is one of my best friends. He and I worked together for many years as construction workers and house painters. We had just finished painting a rich guy's house and as I dropped him off at his house he asked me if I wanted a beer. As I was about the leave, the sun was setting and I noticed the light in his bedroom through the living room. I asked if I could take his picture and he obliged.
A machete sat on top of his headboard as his home defense and I have no idea where he got that wonderfully tacky photo above his bed, but this is one of my favorite photos of him. This was published in Vogue Italia as a piece of reportage photography and I'm very proud to share it with a few of you here.
