Maria Makiling

Maria Makiling is the Diwata (mountain goddess) that resides at Mount Makiling in Laguna. She is the guardian spirit of the mountain - sent by Bathala to protect its bounty and aid the nearby townsfolk in their everyday life. In pre-colonial times, Maria Makiling was known as the goddess of love, conception, and childbirth - Dayang Masalanta.
