Beskalan root of the word Bit-Kal. A little short for the word Seed or will and kal is short for Cikal. The combination of these words becomes the word Cikal-Bakal or seed kawit, namely "origin". Beskalan was originally a ritual dance for fertility rites related to land clearing activities, either for farming activities or for building construction. This ritual is a sign, that everything that lives, grows, and develops begins from the soil, because the land is the beginning or the beginning and at the same time the end. Beskalan has the meaning of beginning or beginning. This understanding is then associated with a dance to start the Tayub or Ludruk performance. The next development, Beskalan is accepted by the people of Malang as a form of "welcome dance" or welcome dance (welcome dance) at local government ceremonies.
