I found this tree while looking for a place to shoot sunset in Joshua Tree National Park. While trying to figure out how to compose a photo, I noticed that if I looked north Polaris would be right behind the California Juniper tree. Shooting star trails with this composition would make circular star paths in the night sky. It took 150 photos that were each 30-second exposures to complete the photograph. It also took several coffees to stay awake.
