I make a space. I acknowledge a lack in that space. I make my art to compensate for the lack. My entire artistic practice is in these three sentences.
Whether it’s taking photographs, aware that there’s ‘something missing’ in the scene that I’ve captured, or whether it’s finding a blank in the world around me, I’m determined to remedy the emptiness with art and abstraction.
It’s become very interesting to me, the parallels between my art practice and the way I live my life: I become aware of a desire, of something missing and I take steps to satisfy the craving for fulfilment. I look to remedy the lack that I feel in my life and I look to remedy the lack that I find.
So, in using my art as a metaphor for the way I live, I made a logo that reminded me of a vessel, a heart, a psyche and I’ve set about wondering what to do with it and how it might be filled.
