This sculptural work continues to explore the notions of appearance and presence of bodies in Web3 space. If virtual bodies evolved independently in their cybernetic worlds, what sensory organs would they develop? What senses would these entities prioritize? Would these bodies have sexual desires? Would they have genders? Would a spirit such as the human soul inhabit these bodies?
In the odyssey of understanding the fundamental incompatibility of the actual and its virtual dimensions, we discover a gap in the intersecting specs of data and the flow of sensory perspectives. Perhaps the bio-mimetic entities claim the provocative position that this is just the beginning of the unlikely alliance of data with flesh, that a model of human life in cyberspace tends to expose the unreachable dimensions of the individual experience. Through its non-physical objectness, the virtual becomes pregnant with a latent desire to pose the prospect of a phantom sense of life.
This experience of identity in virtual beings brings to question an unstable paradox of the presence of the flesh and its identity on the digital plane. Are these fleshless entities concrete in their artificial space? These bodies are born through the joint efforts of this spatial ambiguity of synthetic or biological renderings, where they traverse the ever-elusive atmosphere of data flux in their birth. These entities become submerged in the mysterious extension of human shadows in a subterranean space where we seem to exist perpetually, where the boundaries of flesh and information merge, and a new circulation of fluids and energy emerges, shaping a limbic spirit.
