Like The Moon

You're like the moon.

Always showing the same side of who you are, like you're afraid of what would happen if someone saw the extent of your darkness. Sometimes, completely hidden. Observing from a distance. Watching. Listening. With a silence able to hit like a tsunami. Unreachable for many, shrouded in secrets.

But it's the ones who do reach you, who appreciate your beauty.

Because when the world is dark and cold and I'm scared of what's to come, I can always count on you. To reflect when I can't see past myself anymore. To gently ebb and flow until enough water has hit the shore to wash away the sickness of my mind. To give direction when I'm so lost, I don't know which way to go.

And for a second, I feel like I'm going to be okay.
