Like a Palm
Palm trees in certain parts of the world get hit by violent winds due to storms, hurricanes and cyclones. Yet, they are able to withstand the onslaughts of nature because of their widely spanning network of roots, a firm core and a flexible trunk that allows them to bend and sway without breaking.
This artwork represents some key important lessons we can learn from palm trees so we too can endure through the storms of life.
The colorful network of roots represents the support system of our family and friends. If that system runs wide and deep, it's those people that will help keep us grounded, feed our souls and allow us to grow to greater heights.
The core of the palm represents our values, principles and beliefs. Those attributes that form the basis of our integrity and our character. If we hold firm to those those values, we won't lose ourselves and what we stand for, to the changing currents of the world.
The trunk represents the importance of being flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances. We must continue to learn, experiment, and if needed, change course to succeed in life. If not, we risk having our dreams snapped away when the way things work in the world change on a whim.
As you continue on your journey of life, learn to be "Like a Palm" with a strong network of roots, an unshakable core and a flexible trunk so you can weather the storms of life, grow tall and produce rich and bountiful fruit for the world.
