These are the type of conditions landscape photographers get excited for, and a lot of the time with a plan in place. This time was different, completely unplanned with no intentions of shooting sunset.
My son and I ended up at this location at the Perry Sandhills, NSW after I randomly asked him if he wanted to go for a drive after I picked him up from kindergarten. We pulled up around the back of the sandhills just before golden hour. My gut told me that this was going to be crazy, so in a mad rush we bolted through the sand as I was frantically trying to look for a composition as the sun dipped below the sand hills.
This was the spot, the rolling hills, the wild flower clinging on to whatever life it had left in it and the fire in the sky right on sunset that gelled the whole scene together. The perfect composition created off a whim.
These are the moments you live for, and I'm glad i got to experience it with my boy.
