This artwork is an audiovisual collaboration between artists p.i.x.e.l.l.a.r.e. and æther, inspired by their shared admiration for the life-affirming work of Marguerite Yourcenar.

Yourcenar, a French novelist and essayist, was the first woman elected to the prestigious Académie française. Her work "Le Temps, ce grand sculpteur" (Time, the Great Sculptor) is a collection of essays that explores the passage of time and its transformative power on art, history, and the human experience. Yourcenar contemplates the cyclical nature of civilizations, finding beauty in decay and recognizing the enduring power of artistic creation.

p.i.x.e.l.l.a.r.e. visually interpreted a quote from "Le Temps, ce grand sculpteur," while æther crafted a complementary soundscape and recited the quote in its original French.

Below is an English translation of the quote: "Roots sunk into the earth, branches protective of the squirrel’s games, the nest and chirping of the birds, shade offered to animals and humans, the summit rising into the sky. Do you know a wiser and more benevolent way to live?"
