This work appropriates, reinterprets and inspired by Marina Abramović's work entitled The Kitchen VIII. Physically, the medium used is oil paint on canvas measuring 100 x 120 cm (39.37 x 47.24 inch). Still in line with my previous work (check my profile and see my work before this one), the main premise in this work is about death. Life and death are two opposites that cannot be separated, both in a physical and non-physical sense.
Try to visualize it through the deconstruction of a figure to be shaded and seem blurry. This visualization is interpreted as a transitional idiom between life and death itself. The transition in the end only leaves a physical that is no longer recognizable from its initial state. Because the physical will be decomposed, confused or other things. In front of the figure—who is wearing black clothes in the drawing area—a skull is placed as a symbol of return to the Creator.
Death on one side of the dominant is indeed painful. Where the people around him will certainly feel the loss and hope that the figure will not leave. Death which can mean departure is indeed something that is unpredictable and unexpected. More than that, leaving can also be a process on the way home. The spirit who had finished his life's adventure in the world, finally returned home to a final place that was beautiful and comfortable for him.
