“La Mouche” (“The Fly”) is a digital adaptation of a handmade painting of a fly. Original on paper in East Indian or sumi ink with a dry brush, ca. 25 x 35 cm.
The painting was made in Auvergne, France, where I was besieged by swarms of flies while painting outdoors. Biting flies, that is… Inspiration from irritation, in other words. The irritation at the annoyingly itchy and biting critters is readable in the quick, rigorous brushstrokes.
This work was my entry for the Inktober 2023 event.
