When I was a kid I lived in a very small town that held many beliefs and esotericism. The most popular one was La llorona, about whom my school mates would always tell me the scariest stories.
She would always be walking around town at night looking for kids that weren’t sleeping to take them with her as she was grieving the death of her own.
I don’t know why, but I used to have a lot of nightmares of me becoming La Llorona. Having a deep sadness that would make me wander alone around town weeping uncontrollably…
This artwork is a tribute to La Llorona, my childhood nightmare.
