Recently I was selected as a finalist to be included in an upcoming project with the Street Dreams Cafe team and their project "Celebrating The Wins", but as fate would have it, I was not selected. As I reflect on my career over the last 7 years, I've been blessed beyond measure. My camera has allowed me things that I never dreamt possible. I've worked with brands/people that most only get to see on TV. The friendships/memories made will last a lifetime. But I'd be lying if I said the rejection doesn't start to take its toll on the mind. This isn't the first time my work was included in a photo "competition" and it's not the first time my work wasn't selected.
As an artist, sharing your work is the most vulnerable thing and that vulnerability gets tougher and tougher. It'd be easy to let that rejection keep me from moving forward; but I won't, I can't. Giving up is not in my DNA. Let the child in this photo be an example to all, don't let anything stop you from doing what you love
