I've Got You

This piece was inspired my daughter, she sleeps with a stuffed flamingo called “Flammy” every night. I wanted to portray her in a real scenario of what she might be imagining when she plays with, talks to and shares things with her "Flammy". When children play make believe they are fully immersed in their imaginations. This piece allows us to see how that wonderful imaginary world might look.

Watching my children grow I have been taken back to my own childhood and have remembered how immersed in my own fantasies I could become. When playing "Make Believe", children aren't just pretending, for that moment they are fully immersed in their own make believe idea. This piece allows us to step into their world with them.

I created this piece using watercolour and procreate. The individual elements were hand painted and then digitally collaged to create the final artwork, with a few tweaks and additions in Procreate. This piece is one of the artworks that has brought me the most pleasure to create, I didn’t want to put this down, I really enjoyed every second of creating it. I hope you enjoy it too.
