deep within the city of Wuhan China in 2016, we encountered a hole. while the buildings around the edges of the massive 5 block area had been left standing, every building in the middle had bee razed to the ground. A wasteland of crushed cinderblock, concrete, paint and glass, locals people created walkways across it using discarded carpets. The largest forms remaining were giant balls of rebar and this half standing building. 50+ years of human existence erased, soon to be replaced with a new skyline of towers that will house 10x as many people. There will always be questions about what we lose for progress, and how the past had to exist for the future to happen.
