On the Izu peninsular, a popular surfing destination in Japan, lies a forgotten smallpox isolation clinic. This was the final home to those who were removed from the general population so they wouldn't spread infection. The straw beds still remain, the windows collapsing under the weight of the years of sunlight that have passed through them. Despite the deathly history of the clinic, a serene feeling pervades throughout the structure, as the forest closes in and slowly removes the memories of those whose final breath was absorbed in its embrace.
