This image is a variation on the Trivial Rings image.
In that image, the value of an RGB component increases smoothly from 0 to 255 and then drops abruptly to 0.
In this image the abrupt drop is instead avoided, by making the RBG components also decrease smoothly from 255 to 0.
Another difference is that Green is now changing at low frequency, Blue at mid frequency and Red at high frequency.
So for instance Red changes as follows with the increasing "distance ranking" of the pixel from the centre of the image: 0, 1, ... 254, 255, 255, 254, ... , 1, 0, 0, 1, ...
Blue will raise and drop more slowly, in the same fashion, in blocks of 256 identical numbers, and Green even more slowly, in blocks of 65536 identical numbers.
I suppose this could be referred to as "linear zigzag".
The linear zigzag results in smoother rings and also more regular interference patterns, which happen to be more visible in this image.
