As a hand reaches out to touch the Red Columbine, neon squares shimmer across the surface of the image. This geometry has been plotted using python script and data mined from the imagery itself. The visual presence of these data points reveals the algorithms behind the machine vision at play. In bringing together many different kinds of vision within a single work—that of the artist, the hand, the lens, and the algorithmic—the priorities of each dictated by their individual rules of value become clear.
