Since I can remember, one of my biggest dreams was to get to the top of a glacier. So the first time I had the chance do it, I jumped to the opportunity even though I was not physically prepared.
The Vallunaraju Glacier has an elevation of 18,655ft and it's located near the city of Huaraz, Peru. I was heading there with 3 friends. We made the eight-hour drive from Lima and began our nine-hour summit hike at midnight, led by two guides.
As the hours went by and sunrise approached, the altitude began to take its toll, which actually afforded me the chance to capture this image. Around the seventh hour of hiking, I was feeling weak, so I started walking at my own pace, with one of the guides accompanying me. After a while, my friends and the other guide were far ahead, and I noticed they were about to enter a huge ray of light that made the scene just too beautiful to believe.
This picture represents to me the realization of a lifetime dream. 04/19/2019
